Happy Fathers Day and Live in Senior Care
The official start of summer is finally here and it just so happens that it is also Father’s Day this year. What a great way to ring in the sunshine season with a cookout with Dad! Traditionally, fathers are gifted new pair of socks or a necktie to add to his ever-growing collection. While there is nothing wrong with those types of gifts, it doesn’t require much thought and probably doesn’t elicit the most excitement. This year, make Father’s Day about celebrating and creating new memories.
If Dad is an avid golfer, a gift certificate to his favorite course would be a wonderful Father’s Day gift. Perhaps he would love to go out for a few rounds with you. This is a great time to pick up some clubs and join him, even if golf is not really your sport. The effort and thought is what will count most; even if mulligans are requested more often than not!
This year, let’s give Dad something he can enjoy now. Take him to a new action flick at the movies. Treat him to the popcorn and candies to make it more of an event. Another idea is to bring him something delicious you can grill and enjoy the preparation and feast together at home.
If your father is interested in photography, perhaps a local class to brush him up on his skills would be an excellent gift idea. If he’s already familiar with a camera, a new memory card would be a great addition to his hobby. If he’s more interested in other activities, look for the accessories that would be useful. If he enjoys bike-riding, perhaps a travel case for his phone that attaches to his bicycle for long rides in case of emergency would come in handy. Even a bookworm would appreciate a tablet reader or a gift card to a local book store to shop for something special.
When it comes to giving the perfect Father’s Day gift, it doesn’t have to be something expensive. All it takes to bring a smile to Dad’s face is the thought. Taking the time to learn about what he’s interested in and finding out how you can be involved is the best gift you can give. Give the gift of time and help to create some new memories that he will cherish long through to next year’s Father’s Day!
