Planning a Halloween Party and In Home Elderly Help
It’s officially time to carve the pumpkins and prepare the apple cider. Dashes of orange are spotted in decorations throughout neighborhoods. Some spookier decorative items such as ghosts and skeletons have made their appearance on doorsteps as well. While Halloween is mainly viewed as a child’s holiday made for dressing up and gathering candy, there’s no reason to believe that adults can’t have any fun.
Halloween is a wonderful time to really let your creativity shine. Planning a Halloween party doesn’t have to be too complicated; just a bit of preparation is sure to make your gathering a hit. First, you must pick a date; decide if you would like to include neighbors, friends and family. Create a theme to focus your party around. It can be as simple as a color scheme like orange and black, or it can be based on a spooky movie. When you have chosen a theme and date that seems to be a good fit; send out an invitation either through the mail or email.
When sending out the invitation, offer incentive for dressing up. Adults can be a little hesitant about going in costume, so knowing there will be a prize might encourage the dress-up shy folks. Decorations based on your chosen theme can be purchased at your local party, Target or Walmart. It may be helpful to have a few inexpensive masks or props for the guests that are reluctant to wear a costume.
Great party foods are simple and usually don’t require utensils. The more finger foods you prepare the better. Orange and black frosted cupcakes, small sandwiches, pizza bites and other smaller food items are great options for snacking at the party. A vegetable tray might come in handy to balance out the sugary foods.
If children will be attending the party, host a craft portion so they can create a spooky mask or fill up goodie bags full of candy. Apples cut in half can become festive stamps when dipped in Halloween colored paint and dabbed onto paper. A ball toss into a Jack-O-Lantern can be a fun twist on a familiar game.
Now that the Halloween party has been planned; it’s time to turn on music have some fun in costume!
