This month we are focusing on education and learning. Learning new things throughout our lives is a great way to exercise the mind and can also be a wonderful platform for social connection. Seniors living in the Central Coast are fortunate if they are seeking educational opportunities tailored just for them, there are many available. One organization, Lifelong Learners of the Central Coast, started in SLO and is now expanding their program offerings into Paso Robles and Atascadero.   Lifelong Learners of the Central Coast (LLCC) is a non-profit, originally sponsored by the Community Foundation of SLO County.

According to the LLCC, they are “a diverse community of independent thinkers who develop curriculum, teach classes, organize events, administer programs, establish friendships, guide excursions and much more.” Sounds fascinating doesn’t it? LLCC is mature adults sharing their knowledge with other mature adults that value learning (though classes are open to everyone). This creates a community around knowledge and life experiences that is so rewarding for seniors to participate in. To get an idea of the class topics, here are the upcoming classes for August 2015:
