Fall has arrived – at least on our calendars if not in the daytime temperatures! Though the days have been hot, the nights and early mornings are becoming crisp and cool, a taste of chillier weather to come. In spite of the warmth, leaves are turning and the harvest is happening all over the county. It is a great time for seniors and their caregivers to get out and enjoy the local happenings of the season and connect with the community.
If your senior is up for some exercise in the fall air, walk for a good cause at the SLO Heart Walk in Avila Beach on Oct 11th, or the Alzheimer's Walk in SLO on Oct. 18th. Stroll the Autumn Garden Tour at Portola Inn of Atascadero, also on Oct. 11th.
Fall is a time of abundant festivals! In SLO, there is the Apple Festival at SLO Creek Farms on Oct. 12th, bring a jug and sample their free fresh cider! Over on the North Coast, Cambria has the Historical Society Harvest Festival on Oct. 11th, check out the scarecrows on display. Down South, Pismo Beach features Pumpkins on the Pier a Halloween Celebration on Oct. 25th, enter the adult costume contest! Up in the North County, Paso Robles is having Pioneer Day on Oct. 11th with a parade and free beans in the park. Atascadero’s Colony Days on Oct. 18th will have a historical parade and interactive tent city in the park. All of these local, fall events are appropriate for both young, old, and all ages in between. Get out there and enjoy the season!
