In less than 3 weeks, Halloween will be here. Many seniors welcome the opportunity to celebrate with some traditional Halloween activities, like wearing a costume for a party or to hand out candy to the kiddos. Do you know a senior that would like to have some Halloween fun and dress up? Some seniors gladly go all out and become a character in a full costume, like this Viking.
However, putting a costume together doesn’t have to be difficult. A full costume isn’t even necessary to get in the spirit. Dressing up in a costume or accessory for Halloween can be great fun but seniors have to remember to also be safe when choosing a costume. Voluminous fabrics or high heels can put an elder at risk for a fall. A close fitting costume that ends above the ankle is best for safe mobility.
