Cheers to the New Year with In Home Senior Care
The year is drawing to a close and it’s time to think about the New Year ahead. With each New Year comes a clean slate for new ideas and achievements. It is fresh start to a new ways of doing things that make life better and more enjoyable.
One way to start the New Year is to introduce more fresh ingredients and avoiding over-processed foods as much as possible. Choosing meals with more green vegetables and lean meats, less fatty and sugary foods, will not only benefit the waistline but also overall mood. It is true that we are what we eat, so eating better will make us feel better.
Another way to begin the New Year is to find ways to incorporate some form of exercise into our day-to-day activities. The daily workout doesn’t have to be extremely difficult or vigorous; simply going on a walk after dinner or choosing stairs over elevators whenever possible is a great way to add exercise into each day. Exercise is great for the body and the mind because it reduces stress. When participating in physical activities with a friend, it is also a way to connect.
Getting a jump start on a fresh New Year can be achieved with a start in organizing. There are oftentimes boxes of things that are forgotten and given the time to look through, many find they are unneeded and can be given away to charities and second hand stores. Look through closets for items no longer in use. If there are clothing items that were not worn in a few seasons, it is time to let it go. The time taken to organize does not have to be done in one day; simply take it one closet at a time.
With the New Year approaching, there are many ways to start fresh. Another way to bring the New Year is to spread joy to those we love and don’t always get the time to enjoy. Make it a point to bring dinner to an elderly loved one who might not get visitors on a daily basis. Take an afternoon to sit and visit with them and listen to their stories; they have lived through many things and have learned a lot! The best way to ring in the New Year is to do so with family and friends. The greatest gift to give ourselves is the gift of time spent with those we love.
