With Halloween and Thanksgiving right around the corner, fall is an easy and fun season when it comes to decorations. Classic fall décor is also inexpensive, since many of the supplies you will need are natural and can likely be found right in your own backyard!
For instance – if you wanted to make a fall festive wreath to hang on your front door all you would need is a bundle of wheat or thin sticks, leaves, and glue! To create your natural wreath all you need to do is:
- Tie wheat or sticks into a large circle by gently bending and tying or gluing the ends together.
- Grab maple leaves from outside and stick them into the wheat to create a naturally classic look.
Simple tasks like creating a wreath is actually ideal for residents with dementia, because they require only basic skills that are often retained even when concrete memories are gone. The process also brings feelings of happiness by activating deep memories, much like the effect familiar music has.
Senior Helpers caregivers are ready and excited about creating fun filled memories with your love one!
