Harvest time. Colorful falling leaves. Corn mazes, acorns, pumpkins, scarecrows, Halloween and Thanksgiving. In the Midwest, fall (or autumn) is the time of the year when cooler temperatures sweep in over summer's waning heat and the growing season comes to full fruition before winding down to dormancy.
We want to remind our seniors that treats can be tricky (and not always healthy). Sugar levels can skyrocket across all age levels during Halloween and these sugar levels tend to show a significant increase in youth and seniors.
This influx of sugar intake can open a door to a bevy of health problems. So be careful and cautions about your choice of candy, and perhaps consider ditching the candy for a healthier sweet treat like fruit, yogurt, or juice!
What is your favorite Halloween treat?
