On Monday, May 25, Americans across the country will celebrate Memorial Day. For many, it’s a day filled with picnics and baseball games – the official kick-off to summer. For others, it’s a much more somber occasion – a day to honor and remember those in all branches of the armed forces who have been killed in action.

Since 1775, more than 1.8 million Americans have given their lives in service to their country. Countless others have returned from war with serious physical and mental disabilities, ones that often require extensive therapy and care. Most of us are aware
that the Veteran’s Administration offers a range of support programs to aid and assist veterans:  health care, insurance and education benefits, vocational rehabilitation, affordable home loans, burials and memorials, and more.

But Did You Know That The Veteran’s Administration Offers In-Home Care Benefits For Senior Veterans?

Under the provisions of the Veteran’s Administration’s Aid and Attendance Pension Benefit, eligible senior veterans, their spouses or surviving spouses may be reimbursed for the in-home care services they need to enjoy their retirement. Services covered include:  cooking, dispensing daily medications, running errands, helping to maintain personal hygiene and other activities of daily living (ADLs). In addition, in-home care
for veterans who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia are also included and are reimbursable.
