Senior Helpers of Lafayette was opened in 2007 by the mother and daughter team of Sharon and Jennifer Campisi, equally committed to bringing quality services to seniors in the Acadiana area. Both women had extensive experience in the medical field and identified the need for these specialized services in the Acadiana area.
Jennifer Campisi, Home Care Coordinator, remembers attending corporate training in Baltimore with her mother Sharon, who was undergoing chemotherapy for Breast Cancer. “Mom was determined to open this business and nothing was going to stop her, not even Cancer”
Sharon passed away in May 2014 and Jennifer recalls working closely with her Senior Helper family…allowing her to be at her mother’s bedside during the last weeks of her life. “I relied on my Senior Helper family and today remain grateful for their compassion and the level of care she received. With their help, I was able to spend quality Mother/Daughter time, which is more than I could ever ask for”.
Jennifer’s Father Larry stepped in as CEO with the passing of her Mother and Sharon Campisi’s best practices and attention to detail continue to be implemented in the day to day operations. Jennifer Campisi and Larry Campisi’s mission for clients in Acadiana is to provide seniors and their families the same quality of care that was afforded to Sharon, where each client is treated like they are a member of the family.
Because Larry and Jennifer have taken such a sincere interest in supporting clients and their families, they’ve earned a well deserved reputation as the most trusted and well respected home care agency in Acadiana.
The agency is licensed by the Louisiana Department Health and Hospitals as a Home and Community based provider and has been awarded Best of Home Care for 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016…the only home care provider in the state of Louisiana to win this award 4 years in a row.
With Corporate Headquarters in Abbeville, Louisiana the company services seniors in Parishes of Lafayette, Vermilion, Iberia, Evangeline, St. Mary, St. Martin, St Landry, Acadia and Jefferson Davis.

Jennifer is a Louisiana native who began work 20 years ago as a licensed nurse though the State of Louisiana and the Home Care Coordinator of Senior Helpers of Acadiana. She found elder care to be her calling and has spent her entire career helping Louisiana seniors maintain their independence and live the highest possible quality of life from the comfort of their own homes. After seeing a lack of professionals offering nonmedical, in-home assistance in the area and many years of personal nursing across a variety of settings she opened Senior Helpers of Acadiana in December of 2007 with her mother Sharon Campisi. Today, Senior Helpers offers personalized in-home care and companion services to Louisiana families throughout the Acadiana area that range from one hour per day “peace of mind” visits to 24/7 live in assistance, depending on the needs of each individual and each unique situation.
An active member in the community, she sits on the Board of Directors for the Vermilion Historical Society and since 2012 has been an active regional Board Member of the Alzheimer Association for the Lafayette, Louisiana chapter. She enjoys genealogy research and with the help of a great uncle has traced her Acadian heritage back to the 1600’s. Jennifer currently resides in Abbeville and is the proud Mother of two boys, Lane and Alexander. Her favorite way of relaxing is a weekend in New Orleans listening to music and sampling world famous New Orleans cuisine.
Cathy has a degree in education and opened her own caregiving business in the early 90's which assisted families in the Acadiana area for 6 years. Her passion and commitment to making a difference in the lives of Seniors led her to join the Senior Helper family this year as the Marketing Director. Cathy has worked in numerous marketing positions, patient liaison, real estate and has an intense passion for helping others, in particular the elderly. She comes from a "medical" family as her Mother was an RN and her Father a Surgeon; with 3 grown sons she feels her grandchildren are the perfect definition of Joy ! She is an avid reader, enjoys Bible studies and plays the flute as a member of the Lafayette Concert Band. She also exercises regularly, enjoys cooking , baking, music and dancing.
"My best care giving experience involves a gentleman by the name of Mr. Lee, who will forever occupy a special space in my heart and mind. He has been living alone for a number of years after having been scammed out of a large amount of money. He had a son who lived in a distant state and didn't really have much time for him. I served as his daily support for over 5 years, through surgeries, personal care, meal preparation and the like....I eventually convinced his son to take over care and stayed in close touch until the time of his death."
Michele has been with Senior Helpers since 2011 first working as a caregiver then as Client Services/caregiver Manager. She currently serves as MSP Director of Operations. Michele has a Master’s Degree in Psychology and has worked with at risk youth as a mental health counselor for 5 years and Director of Dementia Care Unit for 6 months. She volunteers with the Alzheimer’s Association as a support group facilitator. An avid gardener, she enjoys camping, volunteering with animal rescue groups and supporting her children in their endless athletic and academic endeavors. Traveling is another interest and as an Army wife she’s been fortunate to visit 45 states and several foreign countries. Michele and her husband Dale have been married for 7 years and the proud parents of 4 children, Kaylee, Sam, Hayden and Taylor (and a yellow Labrador named Roux).
“I met with a client that had Alzheimer’s who shared his story of how he and his wife had met and their travels across Europe. The story was beautiful with details about the color of flowers and the sweet smell of fresh air. Sadly, he wasn’t aware that the woman sitting beside him was his wife with whom he’d shared these travels. A sad and gut wrenching story…but one that is repeated day after day throughout our area. Helping people like this is the real reason I’m in this business of helping family members get through these horrific times.”
Chelsie has been with Senior Helpers for 4 years and serves as Client Service Manager. She has been a nurse for 42 years (her way of service to God), and likes the opportunity of helping clients stay strong in their homes (where they are happiest) as long as possible. Her nursing career has included work with handicapped children, home health, NICU, medical surgical and geriatrics. Chelsie enjoys the Cajun way of life, speaks fluent French, enjoys gardening, Cajun cooking, and riding her motorcycle in her off time. She is the proud Mother of Francis Mouton, Nick Mouton, Miranda Knight and Mathilde Butts. She is especially proud of her 11 Grandchildren!
Betty has been employed with Senior Helpers for 7 years and currently serves as Office Manager. Prior to joining Senior Helpers she was employed for 10 years at a local Nursing Home, spent some time in the retail business, and then returned to nursing and caring for others. She enjoys spending time with family and attending events at regional Casinos with friends. “I believe in treating patients like they are family…I recently cared for a patient for 3½ years, I grew to know him and his family well, I tried to treat him as I would my very own family. It was a wonderful fulfilling relationship.” Betty has been married to Dalton Wilson Sr. for 40 years and is the proud mother of three children, Tanya, Chad and James Jr. She is also a proud Grandmother to Taylor, Madison, Carter and Kate.
Anne joined Senior Helpers in 2015 and currently is in charge of Scheduling and Payroll Administration. She was employed for 10 years in the oil and gas industry managing accounts receivables before joining Senior Helpers. When not working, Anne enjoys reading and spending time with her family…as well as working in her yard. She recently married her best friend Ricky and is the proud mother of two daughters, Katelyn and Monique.
Kim has spent the majority of her working life in sales. She moved to Lafayette in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina and opened her first successful company in 2006 which she sold in 2009. She opened her second business (The Monogram Cottage in 2015 which she still manages). She joined Senior Helpers in 2015 as Community Relations Coordinator, where she has successfully helped grow the business by acting as the liaison between Senior Helpers and their centers of influence. Kim is the proud mother of two boys Zach and Ray, very family oriented and attends all of her kid’s sports activities. In her spare time she loves dancing to Zydeco music.
"My advice to anyone looking for home care services is that the family should feel comfortable that the company they are hiring will welcome their loved one as if they were a member of their own family…Senior Helpers certainly fits the bill in that respect. I think my best care giving experience involves an older couple married for over 60 years living in Eunice, Louisiana. They made the decision to remain in their home, but needed some extra help around the house. I developed a personal relationship with them and was pleased I could help them live comfortably in their home surroundings. I take pride in the fact that I’m the kind of person who never meets a stranger and love working with Senior Helpers."
