DAVIS APPOINTED TO NH WORKFORCE INVESTMENT COUNCIL

Stratham, New Hampshire – Senior Helpers of the Greater Seacoastowner and President, Dwight Davis was appointed by Governor Maggie Hassan to the State of New Hampshire Workforce Investment Board. This appointment places Davis on the board until June 30, 2018. Davis served on the board under a precious appointment from Governor John Lynch and served as the Chair of the Youth Workforce Council from 2007 – 2013.

The Office of Workforce Opportunity, Department of Resources and Economic Development sponsors the NH Works system through use of Workforce Investment Act funds. The Governor established and certified the Office of Workforce Opportunity as the State's Workforce Board under WIA on September 22, 1999. The Office is chaired by a businessperson and has 43 members, of which 22 members are business representatives. The Office also includes top officials from agencies that oversee workforce development programs. Board members were generally selected according to the following criteria: geographic representation, industry sectors, company size, and workforce and economic development expertise. Stratham, New Hampshire – Senior Helpers of the Greater Seacoast co-owner and Vice President, Gayle Davis recently completed the Master Trainer certification course for A Matter of Balance. The training was sponsored by the Partnership for Healthy Aging of MaineHealth and Dartmouth College.

A Matter of Balance is a proven program designed to help people manage concerns about falls and increase physical activity. The program was developed through extensive research at Boston University. The program is recognized for Innovation and Quality in Healthcare and Aging by the Society on Aging.
