A Senior Helpers Client
In celebration of World Alzheimer's Day, which is coming up on Sunday, September 21, Senior Helpers of Contra Costa County will be making available free copies of The Senior Gems, a 35-minute DVD featuring dementia and Alzheimer's expert Teepa Snow.
The 35-minute video guides caregivers through the different stages of dementia and includes useful tips and techniques for helping loved ones with the syndrome. Teepa Snow is recognized worldwide for her innovative approach to dementia and Alzheimer's, focusing on what the patient can still do rather than the obvious limitations and memory-related issues.
"We believe the more people know about Alzheimer's and the more awareness we can bring to the subject, the faster we will make progress toward a cure," said Kevin Reneau, owner of Senior Helpers, which has an office in Moraga, CA. "The caregivers, whether they are family members or hired employees, take on a tremendous burden and it's time that everybody recognizes that contribution.
World Alzheimer's Day is a celebration in which Alzheimer's organizations around the world concentrate their efforts on raising awareness about Alzheimer's and dementia. Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia.
